A working party turned out to begin digging out the plots. Although chilly and dull, it didn't rain so the weather was on our side!
Everyone worked really hard and achieved a great deal, but there is still plenty more to be done. Meanwhile the Parish Council is looking for more funding for essentials such as a rabbit proof fence and sheds or similar stoage facilities for allotment holders. Work will be starting shortly on laying on the water supply and creating a proper access to the site.
Thanks to Sue Bartholomew for her pictures.
And pictures from Mike Hickmott, to show more work on the access from Lees Road to the allotments.
The first stages in providing a water supply!
The right sort of mole was busy tunnelling beneath the access way to the allotments, to put in piping for the water supply. We are now only waiting for se water to connect it to the mains. Many thanks to Andrew Fortescue for his considerable help with the water supply and access.
One year on: March 2012
Thanks to grants from the Kent Downs and Marshes Leader Scheme and Awards for All, sheds for use by the allotment holders and a green loo are being installed. Volunteers from the Allotment Society are working hard to put in these facilities, and their efforts are appreciated by all plot holders.
The first shed goes up!
And then there were three!
